Y'all mind if I praise God?!
If you follow me on any of my social media accounts, then you probably already know what I'm about to say. I GOT INTO MEDICAL SCHOOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I could really write a book about how this feels, but I'll spare y'all for now. I just want to give y'all a *brief* update on how things have been since I last checked in. It's been an interesting two and a half months to say the least.
My last post was me talking to y'all about how I had been waitlisted for both of the schools I interviewed at and how I was in a dark place and trying to stay positive. In the midst of the emotional highs and lows of that time, I pushed forward. I did end up applying to one graduate program and I got accepted, but I wasn't really excited about it. I just looked at it as a pit stop on the way to where I really wanted to be. The school is a great school and the program has a high success rate for what its purpose is, it just didn't feel like the right place for me. I immediately got stressed because of how quickly the turnaround time to accept the offer was and how quickly school would've been starting. Regardless of my stress in that situation, I kept telling myself things would work out exactly the way they were supposed to and that's exactly what happened.
Let me tell y'all about how God works. I'm gonna try to keep it short, but these are some things that I feel like I NEED to share. The first is to trust God's plan, If you're new here, my faith is extremely important to me and it is a common theme on this website. Anyway, my faith grew immensely this year and I'm so grateful for it. When I was making and praying over my goals for my senior year in August of 2019,I prayed that I would definitely have plans for my next chapter by May 1. Y'all wanna know when I got the call that I was accepted? April 30. Not to mention this was two days after I paid the seat deposit for the program I almost ended up going to. Outside of family and a few friends, I kept my news to myself until I took my grad pics and made my official announcement. Part of this was because I just wanted to have nice pictures when I announced it, and part of me just wanted to stay on Cloud 9
Fast forward to almost a month later and I'm getting my life together to move. It's stressful and exciting, but I feel like I'm ready for this new chapter. There is A LOT going on in the world right now, but I'm working on finding more things to be grateful for. Like I've said before, small wins are still wins.
I'm going to cut this post short here. Like I said, I could write y'all a book about how I'm feeling about everything, so I'll save some for later. More updates will most likely be coming after I move and get my apartment situated. I start school toward the end of July, so I'll definitely aim to have something before that date.
In the midst of everything of going on right now, please do your best to protect yourselves and your peace. You matter. You are appreciated. You are worthy. Don't let any person, test score, application, statistic, news report, tweet or post tell you otherwise.
Yesterday. Today. Tomorrow. Forever.

The purpose of this portion of the website is to let you inside my journey to Dr. Black Barbie. I don't write everything as it's happening, but once it's processed, it'll be here.
